Lotoli Hotel Review: Moon Palace Cancun, Mexico
Overall Experience:
Moon Palace Cancun is an expansive and luxurious all-inclusive resort that offers a blend of relaxation, entertainment, and world-class service. Spanning over 123 acres of lush tropical gardens and pristine beachfront, the resort feels like a world unto itself. It’s the kind of place where you can do everything or nothing at all, depending on your mood. Whether you're lounging by the pool, enjoying gourmet dining, or exploring the various activities on offer, Moon Palace provides an experience that is both indulgent and unforgettable.
Accommodation:
The accommodations at Moon Palace are impressive in both size and comfort. The resort is divided into three sections: Nizuc, Sunrise, and The Grand, each offering a different atmosphere. I stayed in the Sunrise section, which is known for being the most lively. The room was spacious and elegantly decorated, with a comfortable king-sized bed, a well-appointed seating area, and a large balcony overlooking the ocean.
One of the standout features of the room was the double whirlpool tub, which added a touch of luxury. The bathroom was equally impressive, with a large walk-in shower, high-end toiletries, and plenty of space for all your belongings. The in-room amenities were top-notch, including a stocked minibar (restocked daily), a flat-screen TV, and an espresso machine. The resort's attention to detail was evident in the nightly turndown service, where small touches like chocolates on the pillow and aromatherapy oils helped to create a relaxing environment.
For those looking for even more luxury, The Grand section offers suites with private pools, swim-up access, and butler service, making it an ideal choice for honeymooners or those celebrating a special occasion.
Dining:
Dining at Moon Palace Cancun is an experience in itself. The resort boasts over 15 restaurants, each offering a different cuisine and ambiance. The variety is impressive, from gourmet fine dining to casual beachside grills.
One of my favorite dining experiences was at "Los Tacos," a casual spot serving authentic Mexican street food. The tacos were delicious, bursting with flavor, and made with fresh ingredients. For a more upscale dining experience, "Momo" offers a taste of Asian cuisine with a variety of sushi, teppanyaki, and other Japanese dishes. The chefs are highly skilled, and the presentation of the food is as impressive as the taste.
Another highlight was dining at "La Trattoria," an Italian restaurant located in The Grand section. The homemade pasta and wood-fired pizzas were outstanding, and the wine selection was extensive. The ambiance here is cozy and romantic, perfect for a leisurely dinner.
The buffets at Moon Palace are equally impressive, offering a wide range of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. "Bugambilias," located in the Nizuc section, was my go-to spot for breakfast. The spread was extensive, with everything from fresh fruits and pastries to made-to-order omelets and traditional Mexican dishes. The service was attentive, and the food was consistently fresh and flavorful.
One of the unique dining experiences at Moon Palace is the "Chef’s Dinner," a multi-course gourmet meal paired with fine wines. The meal is served in an intimate setting, with the chef explaining each course and the wine pairing. It’s a fantastic experience for foodies and those looking to indulge in something special.
Entertainment and Activities:
Moon Palace Cancun excels in its range of entertainment and activities, catering to all ages and interests. The resort offers something for everyone, whether you're looking for adventure, relaxation, or family fun.
For those who enjoy being active, the resort offers a variety of sports and activities, including tennis, beach volleyball, mini-golf, and a well-equipped fitness center. The resort also has a large water sports center, where you can try out activities like paddleboarding, kayaking, and snorkeling.
The pools at Moon Palace are a highlight, with multiple options spread across the resort. The Sunrise section has the most lively pool scene, with activities like water aerobics, poolside games, and live DJ sessions. If you prefer a quieter experience, the Nizuc section offers a more relaxed pool environment, while The Grand section has an adults-only pool area that is perfect for unwinding with a cocktail in hand.
For families, Moon Palace is a paradise. The resort has a fantastic kids' club with a wide range of activities to keep younger guests entertained. There’s also a teens' lounge with video games, pool tables, and a mini-cinema. The resort’s water park is a major attraction, featuring slides, splash pads, and a lazy river.
In the evenings, the resort comes alive with entertainment options. The nightly shows are a highlight, featuring everything from Broadway-style performances to live music and cultural shows. The resort also hosts themed parties, karaoke nights, and dance classes. For those who enjoy nightlife, the "Wired" nightclub offers a vibrant atmosphere with live DJ sets, dancing, and a wide selection of drinks.
Service:
Service at Moon Palace Cancun is exceptional, with staff members going above and beyond to ensure that every guest has a memorable stay. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted with warm smiles and a genuine desire to make your experience special.
The check-in process was smooth and efficient, with the staff taking the time to explain the resort’s layout, amenities, and dining options. Throughout my stay, I found the service to be consistently attentive, whether I was at the pool, dining in a restaurant, or enjoying an activity. The staff were always polite, professional, and eager to accommodate any requests.
One area where the service truly stood out was in the restaurants. The waitstaff were knowledgeable about the menus, quick to offer recommendations, and attentive without being intrusive. At one of the restaurants, I mentioned that it was my birthday, and they surprised me with a complimentary dessert and a small celebration at the table—a thoughtful gesture that made the evening even more special.
The resort also offers a dedicated concierge service, where you can book excursions, spa treatments, and other activities. The concierge team was incredibly helpful in arranging a day trip to the nearby Mayan ruins and ensuring that all the details were taken care of.
Spa and Wellness:
The Awe Spa at Moon Palace is a sanctuary of relaxation and rejuvenation. The spa is expansive, with a wide range of treatments and facilities designed to help you unwind and recharge. The ambiance is serene, with calming music, soft lighting, and a soothing aroma that immediately puts you at ease.
I indulged in a 90-minute deep tissue massage, which was one of the best spa experiences I’ve ever had. The therapist was highly skilled, using a combination of techniques to relieve tension and stress. The treatment room was spacious and luxurious, with a private shower and changing area.
In addition to massages, the spa offers a variety of treatments, including facials, body wraps, and hydrotherapy sessions. The hydrotherapy circuit is a must-try, featuring a sauna, steam room, plunge pools, and a series of therapeutic showers that leave you feeling completely refreshed.
For those looking to stay active, the resort’s fitness center is well-equipped with modern cardio and strength-training equipment. There are also daily fitness classes, including yoga, Pilates, and Zumba, led by professional instructors. The classes are suitable for all levels, making it easy to stay fit while enjoying your vacation.
Location:
Moon Palace Cancun is located on a secluded stretch of beach, just south of the Cancun Hotel Zone. The location offers a perfect balance of tranquility and accessibility, allowing you to enjoy the natural beauty of the area while still being close to the attractions of Cancun.
The resort is set on a beautiful white-sand beach, with calm, turquoise waters that are perfect for swimming and water sports. The beach is well-maintained, with plenty of loungers and umbrellas available for guests. The surrounding gardens and tropical landscape add to the resort's peaceful ambiance, creating a true oasis.
While the resort is somewhat removed from the hustle and bustle of downtown Cancun, it’s just a short drive away, making it easy to explore the area’s nightlife, shopping, and cultural attractions. The resort offers a variety of excursions and tours, including visits to the Mayan ruins of Tulum and Chichen Itza, snorkeling trips, and shopping excursions to nearby Playa del Carmen.
For those who prefer to stay within the resort, Moon Palace offers enough activities, dining options, and entertainment to keep you busy without ever needing to leave the property.
Lotoli Conclusion:
Moon Palace Cancun is an exceptional resort that delivers a luxurious and memorable vacation experience. Whether you're traveling with family, friends, or as a couple, the resort offers something for everyone. The accommodations are comfortable and well-appointed, the dining is diverse and delicious, and the range of activities and entertainment ensures that there’s never a dull moment.
The service is outstanding, with staff members who are genuinely committed to making your stay special.
